DO schools with best speciality residencies?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nova seems to have big connects if you plan to stay in Florida for residency. The faculty and grads of Nova really go out of their way to look out for nova students I was told at my interview. They seem to put students into derm and ophthalmology with more regularity than most DO programs

you have toooooo many emotions for us to continue. i appreciate that you are frustrated - physicians live leaner in SF and LA than semi-skilled in Texas - but you have some weird pathos for me kid.

and you cited data from the wrong campus in midst of ad hom. western has a campus in pomona pa which is a good do school, and a campus in lebanon oregon that is in league with worst DO schools

What do you mean by this

RVUCOM makes all their students take both USMLE and COMLEX rather than giving them an option. Last year, their class scored several points higher on average on the USMLE then their state MD school. Also, I believe their COMLEX scores are one of the best in the country, and their match list is very impressive. So no, I think it's definitely possible to do very well on both exams.

hey! i am very interested in the USMLE scores data. how did you hear about these readings? (RVU vs the CO MD school?)

thanks!

I don't recall off the top of my head exactly where I read this stuff, but definitely google it. There's a lot of info out there if you dig!

I don't believe this is true.

Page 18 - RVU mean 219 in 2015 (national average 228). I have 2 friends at RVU prepping for step 1 right now. They said their mean has increased quite a bit since 2015, but they aren't beating the national average (yet). Maybe they aren't telling me the truth though? I'm not sure why they would lie to me about that. CU has been over 222 since 2010, and beat the national average the last few years.

That being said, they have awesome match lists. If I went to a DO school, it would definitely be RVU.

I'm not going to defend the stat because I'm honestly not sure. If I recall correctly, it was from a thread awhile back where a current student had said that their average was like 2-4 points above the one at CU. They could've been making this up, so I'm not going to say it's true for sure.

Regardless of that point, RVU is an excellent school and will definitely set anyone up for success. Although I turned down my acceptance there, I would count it as one of the "top" DO schools for sure.
