students getting accepted into endocrinology residency programs? Do you know which ones they are? I am willing to go to a DO school that has that good reputation.

Are there any DO schools on the east coast that can meet my preferences?

Thank you

Sorry, you can't get into hard specialties as a DO, we all have to sign a pledge to be FM before they allow us to even apply. 🙄

Now that I got that out of my system, there isn't a list somewhere that is going to tell you. Find the schools you are interested in and check their match lists; most schools are proud of their matches and publish them. This will give you a better idea where the students are going for residency.

well the rate of each school is zero because there are no "endocrinology residency programs"

Endocrinology is a fellowship you do AFTER an internal medicine residency. You have to get an IM residency first.

(And the previous poster was making a joke.)

Thanks bioteach, I could tell he was making a joke 🙂.

Is the IM residency required whether you are coming from a DO school or Allelopathy school?

Yes. Both DOs and MDs do a residency after graduation from medical school. There are allopathic and osteopathic ones. DOs can apply to either, but it's typically a little harder for them to get into an allopathic one.

The school you go to has very little bearing on what you go into. A lot of schools, especially on the DO side, harp on primary care (family medicine [which is the "FM" someone joked about earlier], internal medicine, and the like) in their mission statements, but that doesn't mean you have to go into those things. Do well in your classes and boards, and you decide where you go. Match lists are fairly meaningless in determining where you want to go. I'd pay more attention to the curriculum, cost, and location.

To be honest, given the number of applicants who "claim" they will do primary care and/or rural/underserved, the schools should have contracts available for them to back up their talk.

As for the OP, you may want to find out how many (if any) AOA endocrinology fellowships there are. If you plan on doing an ACGME fellowship, it might be better for you to go to an ACGME IM residency first.

Some schools do have contracts now. Also, with the new rules if he wants to do an ACGME fellowship he'll have to do an ACGME residency

I am from Maryland by the way 🙂

I go to Towson University.

he was making a joke lol

Where do you go? What do you like about your osteopathy medical school?

he was making a joke lol

Just to clarify it was a joke, I have a DO acceptance and I openly told them in the interview I am looking at peds gas and it didn't seem to slow them down.
