What schools put more weight on the GPA ? Unfortunately my states 2 D.O schools Touro NY and NYCOM don't 🙁

The bad news is most DO schools put heavy emphasis on the MCAT ... Some are even 'obsessed' about high MCAT score according to posters on SDN.... Their MCAT average tend to be 27-30... The good new is: If your c/sGPAs are 3.3+, you should be ok with a 26+ MCAT score...

How about the newer schools? I heard they place more emphasis on the GPA.

I calculated that the spots offered by schools averaging 26 or less MCAT make up about 1/3 of the total number of matriculant spots. That is a substantial percentage. This partly explains how people with average GPA's and 22-23 mcat are surprisingly successful at getting in.

Of course the school is looking for the best fit for their program too- which may favor mcat but is not limited to it. I've got an interview where I am 4 pts below the average.

Simply prepare the best you can, and then see what happens.
