Trying to find D.O. schools that do not require a letter of recommendation from a D.O. physician, since there are no D.O.'s in my country.
yes...Just wondering can i submit LORs from both MD and DO physicians to DO schools?
well you need science professor letters but... you get the idea....yes...
LOR can be from anyone. From the president to anyone who knows you well (just avoid family members).
As long as you have a DO letter for schools that REQUIRE DO letters, it doesn't matter who other letters are from.
As to why consider D.O. Well I was looking at med school options and what caught my eye was their different approach.
Im interested in LECOM and emailed them about my problem to see if I can even apply.
What is your residency status in the US? You may be facing a significant uphill battle unless you have ties to the country.
I made a spreadsheet a couple months ago outlining which schools require which letters. I'm sure it is in my comments history.
Hmm.... I wonder who created a spread sheet couple threads down...

you are welcome.... but obviously my effort was useless....
I just made sure my writers didn't mention one degree or the other, just "doctor."yes...

Pretty sure VCOM only requires a physician letter (DO preferred but not required).

I spoke with a representative from VCOM a couple days ago at my university.
I asked him, "So I saw on the college information book online that VCOM 'requires' a DO letter but will write students who don't have one after the interview. How does that work?"
Rep - "Yes, DO physicians will write students a letter after the interview so it'll count as a DO letter."
So, technically, you DON'T NEED a DO LOR to get an interview at VCOM.
I don't know how "good" the LOR will be but...
I've heard from students who had interviews at LECOM the same thing but not 100% sure.
I interviewed at LECOM with a DO letter; however, there were people there without one. How it works is you stay after the interview day, sit and talk with a DO faculty for a while so they get to know you, and then they write a letter for you which counts as your DO letter.
Thank you. But i had a question that i couldn't ask the rep.
You can't use that letter to apply to other schools right??? XD just wondering.
