Do med schools want to know your first semester senior grades?

I hope not! If I get in first round, nothing heroic. C's get diplomas.

😉

but it would be good to know.

They only matter if you mail them your grades.

I didn't do that well my senior year, so I didn't send them my grades. No problems there.

what about SAT scores?
I hope not mine was embarassing

wake forest wants SAT scores as well

This may be the best motivation to write secondaries I've ever encountered.

2nd semester = beer semester

i havent gotten into med school, and ive totally lost motivation already

better hope you get in this round...

yeah, i hope so too... and, if i dont get in this round, then im not going to medical school. ive done everything "right" -- if they hate on me, then ill do something else.

Are you being serious? I'm also having trouble keeping up my motivation to do well.
yes, totally serious. in december when i am reading threads about people who are sending in grades with their updates, i will be laughing maniacally.

i wont send them in unless they are good, or they ask. I have 0 motivation....Pchem sucks!

No kidding...I would love to do this semester on a pass/fail basis. All my pre-reqs are done, so why should they care right?

Some schools, Thomas Jefferson wants them, Baylor wants them, Penn State wants them, to name a few.
oh crap, yep definatly got to cross them out of my list of schools that i'll be applying to. 🙁

Ok, I am applying to both Thomas Jefferson and Wake Forest, but I didn't go to high school in the US and so I didn't take the SAT, I actually took the ACT and did just fine, got into college and been kicking butt since then...can I just leave that part blank?

hmmm, do you think it will hurt somebody if they had a bad SAT score (I had a low SAT verbal)?

so sending in your fall semester senior grades is completely "optional"? do some schools request these grades?

bump

i am thinking about mailing mine in since i am showing off a 2.3 (freshman fall)to 3.7 (jr spring)...with a rather low cum..i want to emphasise that the cum is low but my trend is strong...trend!!! 👍 ...what do u guys think?

No...as long as you do well on verbal on the MCAT. If your MCAT is relatively higher than your SAT, it's a sign to the adcoms that you're making improvements.

Well since you took ACT's you should be fine, since all undergrad schools accept both SAT's and ACT's. I guess same rules should apply med schools as well (the ones that require SATs). Good Luck

I'm not aware of any medschools that require either test.

Yeah I was curious about that too, but people in this post said that some med schools ask you for SAT's. So I assumed that since they're asking for SAT's they shouldn't have any problems accepting ACT's
Check the first page.

i've gotten sooo lazy...my only motivation to do somewhat well is out of personal pride at this point.

No school that I know of actually requires them. The ones that do ask for them would like to know the scores only if you took the tests.

My sat score was horrible, how much wieght will the adcoms place on the SATS when considering admisson? will they kick me out beacause i have a low SAT score?

GOD DAMNIT i thoght i wouldnt have to deal with the SAT once i was enrolled in college....booo!

Considering I took the ACT about 10 years ago, I don't think they will be able to see a trend other than I know what I want to do with my life now. I'm also hoping I get in my first time around, because I really really want to slack off a bit my senior year! hehe

The real question is: do grades matter when you're a super senior?

God, I'm getting old.

I can order from the Senior menu now.

Coffee, 29 cents?? Well, what the heck!

everything you do matters, esp if it's going to be on paper. some adcoms assume that if you dont send them updated transcripts, then you dont really care about your app there or you didnt get good grades. also, you never know if youre going to have to reapply or not. dont let up until youve graduated.

there are other things to think about as well. your transcript might be evaluated in other situations. if people see a trend in your work that shows that you expend a lot of enery only when you think you need to and then start slacking off, it might prove to be a thorn in your side.
