I have submitted my AACOMAS app last week and I am waiting to be verified. I have 3 very strong letters (1PI, 1MD, and 1 science). I HAVE NO DO letters nor shadowing. Before anyone asks I have interacted with DOs at TCOM via research and conferences. I have contacted multiple DOs recently that will let me shadow. If I shadow for the next month and get a letter will that look bad? Is it too late to add that? I know not all schools require a DO letter but I don't want to miss out on any schools due to a letter. Thanks

Not ideal, but better than no shadowing and no letter.
Don't get me wrong...I have ~100 hours of shadowing, they're just not DOs. I don't want it to look like it was a last min effort (when in all honesty it was :/)

I think you'll be fine with last minute DO shadowing so you can get a letter. And end of August LOR submission won't be "too late." I've heard of DO applicants who got their letter after a prolonged phone call with a DO, whom they never shadowed.

BTW, SDN also has a PreMed Osteopathic Forum, which might have been a better place to ask such a focused question if you wanted lots of well-informed input.
