Hi guys,

I heard that most DOs are primary care physcians, is it possible still to become a specialized physcians as well?

Thanks

... people really need to do their own research before asking questions... 10 seconds of google search or sdn search would have yielded the answer.

Well I just heard that it is harder to get into a specialty as a DO than an MD

Right. And instead of taking initiative and finding out for yourself, a question that could easily be answered in about 5 minutes of self initiated research, you ask here. Plus, you heard it is harder. Even though that is generally false, you didn't hear it was impossible, did you? Therefore you knew the answer to your question before you asked.

Yes DOs can do everything MDs can.

Your right, thousands of DO students graduate, but can't do a residency. You do realize that family medicine and other primary care fields are all considered "specialties." I'm pretty sure a wikipedia search would even help you with this question. To help you get started on your research, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.O.

Dangit, you beat me too it. I think some of you guys really need to go out and shadow some DO physicians in other specialties to help answer your questions. Obviously, wiki and google isn't working.
