Hello All

Everybody understands that state medical schools favor in state residents.

Do state medical schools also favor out of state residents who live in nearby states?

Eg. Would a Virginia state medical school favor a Maryland applicant over a generic out of state applicant if all other factors were equal?

I can say for most of the schools in Ohio it goes IS in same region as med school> IS> OOS with ties> OOS neighboring states> OOS.

I know that some of the Northwestern Schools favor applicants in the Northwestern area, particularly those from states that don't have their own State School eg Montana.
