HI GUYS,once one gets into an advanced standing program, and is considered at par with regular DDS students, do they qualify for tranfer to another school in another state next yr?is there any hope for those in advanced standing away form home to get into some place closer next year like other regular DDS students have the option???any suggestions will be appreciated, i am sure many of us already in school might have looked into it.

Most likely, the answer to your question will be "no". If you are admitted as an advanced standing then you will begin clinics as 3rd year. No school would want the hassle of transferring you out/in. Advanced standing admission is kinda like transferred admission. If an advanced standing student is given a transfer, it needs the blessings of both the current dental school Dean and the new dental school dean. Usually, the circumstances would have to be so special (not just marital issue) that it only occurs very very seldom.

thanks bluetoothhunter for your reply. i wish ot know if anyone has got it so far for any special reason????i am sure many people would have thought abt it and tried it..........what is the success rate in getting a transfer??

Dear Godbless,
Do not think at this possibility because is almost imposible. In US each university has autonomy, the programs are not similar and as you probably noticed the admission criteria are v.v. different. I hope that you will get accepted somewhere close to your husband. If not, I recommened you Jetblue. It has been my friend for the last year and half flying back and forth to my husband.

hi
thanks for your reply, how frequently were you flying to see him?where was he living and where are you located now?please reply, is it hard with D school to fly every weekend???i checked jetblue, it is slightly more expensive than southwest, do u know of any frequent flyer program with jetblue ,please tell me abt it.also i noticed you just got into UCSF so why were you living away??waiting for a reply

regardless of it being allowed or not , i do not know but what I do know is that there was a post long ago that said it was a big negative . Some programs I think he said frown upon the fact that you run the risk of looking unreliable and untrust worthy in essence you become a liability. but again I will have to find that post to show you . I can understand if this is true why it might seem to be. I will post the thrad for this if I can find it later.
