Do they call those who write you a recommendation?

I haven't been on good terms with the pharmacist at work since he's been giving everyone a hard time. He did write me a rec letter but I'm afraid if they actually call him and he's at the end of his shift at work and slips a few negative comments depending on his mood, that it'll ruin it for me. Have any of your recommendation writers been given a call?

If mine were contacted they didn't tell me and they actually probably wouldn't reveal that to me anyway.

I think you don't have anything to worry about. Just because he's been giving everyone a hard time as you say does not mean he is going to change his opinion of you most likely. Perhaps he is stressed out about something outside of work, etc. If he knew you well enough to write you a letter of recommendation I don't think he will sabotage that if they contact him.
