Hi again!!
So, my stats are average GPA ~3.5 , my first PCAT score was bad but I will take it again in OCT. My question is, do most schools read all the PS from people that qualify for their criteria. I know they might not read someone with a 2.0 GPA. But in my case, will they at least read my introduction?
I am asking this because if the intro. is all they read, then I need to make sure my intro. is as interesting as possible!
TY

It depends on the school, I would think. One told me that they dont really place much of an emphasis on the pharmcas personal statement but pay more attention to their supplemental.

I thought they would read everyones ps as long as you meet their minimum requirements for applying, dont they? It's important to make an interesting Intro so that they'll want to know more about you as an applicant, but who told you that that's all they read?

I have my intro and ending done, but for middle sections where I talk about my experience are still dead. :scared:

From what I've been told, the PS is the most important part of the application and people should spend alot of time on this piece. The adcom reads your PS and determines whether or not they find you interesting enough to invite you to the inteview, that is, if everything else is OK. The supplemental app is also important, but not as important as the PS

I alse heard the same that your personal statement is very important. It's basically your way of trying to "sell" yourself to them.

Actually it's been reported that no school actually reads the personal statement. They are only using it to see how many people follow instuctions and anyone over the word/character limit is automatically rejected...everyone else is fair game providing they meet the requirements.

If they don't read your PS, how would they know who to invite to the interview or who to reject? There are tons of people who meet the requirements, so there's got to be a way to narrow down the candidates. I think the PS is what they use to narrow down the field of candidates.

I heard they don't read your LORs (only scan thru it and if they found a bad one then they'll read it). I think this might be true considering how time consuming it would be to read 3 LORs from each candidate

I thought everything would matter, just more or less?

Most of the systems who process these, at least the ones I've used, including PharmCAS, don't allow you to submit essays over the character limit so I don't think it's that. I agree, that if I was on the AdCom with lots of things to do with the college, that I would probably only read select LOR's and personal statements. Some people, like myself, have had interesting routes to this profession which iI think would be worthy of reading. But I'm personally biased, just my opinion.

I think imperial frog was being sarcastic, you guys.
