Hi everyone,

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I am having trouble finding a conclusive answer. Would I be ok submitting my DO application in a few weeks (before September) instead of right now as I get my application completely ready? I have already submitted MD and finished my secondaries, I just need a letter of rec from a few people.

I guess my question boils down to; Are DO schools as insane about when you submit as MD programs, or can I wait to get everything together?

Thank you!

If you already submitted your MD primary, then wouldn't the DO primary be mostly copy and paste?

The general consensus on here is that if you have everything (primary, secondary, LOR) in by Thanksgiving you're good to go. Earlier is better but the DO cycle is longer than MD so you are still fine to apply this month as long as your stats are good.

Edit: autocorrect betrayed me once again.

Other than waiting for LOR, is there something else preventing you from just submitting your AACOMAS apps as soon as your AMCAS ones? As cantank said above, its mostly just copying and pasting. You also have to account for verification time, which I think its starting to become longer and longer. I think if you have everything complete that you're able to control and you've double/triple checked it, just submit it, pick up a hobby, and wait for those II to come. A lot of the DO schools work on rolling admissions and II have been sent out by a number of them, one of the schools I'm interviewing at gives you a decision within 2 weeks of your interview, another between 10-12 days. So theoretically, people can have acceptances as soon as the beginning of September.

The DO cycle is longer. Even submitting by Tgiving is fine. After that, you start running the risk on interviewing by Spring, and that's when we get picky.
