I just transferred from a CC, and I think my GPA might go down a little, like a 3.0 for the semester.

It's mainly organic chemistry, and it's an upper division class.

Do adcoms realize the transition might be a little difficult?

I'm not a chemistry major; biology is more my thing. If I can do well in upper division bio classes would I be all right? Or do adcoms at most schools only look at the pre-reqs?

I have taken classes at CC and University, a class is a class just depends on how much work you put into it and your natural ability. It depends on what school you are talking about but most schools will notice upward trends and your performance in advanced classes. I will say one bad class isn't going to kill you, just ace the next organic chem and show you improved and do know the material. Schools are getting more competitive, more is required, whether it be in GPA, experience, volunteering, degrees or leadership positions. If you do bad in a course makeup for it by doing awesome in rest, coursework or excelling outside the classroom or working in a pharmacy and gettign a variety of experience. Schools aren't all that interested in excuses, give them reasons to admit to you not reasons why you couldn't give them any.

Just work hard and don't get yourself down about one semester.

I agree for the most part. I went from CC to 4yr and jumped in at the deep end. My first quarter I took 12 units 6 of which was Physical chemistry. Got a C in that class. C+ my second quarter. My overall GPA at CSUSB was 3.3?-3.4? while I had a 4.0 at one CC and a 3.79 at the other. So yeah, you may get a drop, but as long as your overall GPA is okay, it won't matter that much. Besides, those were my only C's in upper-division and it was PChem for crying out loud. So, don't sweat the small stuff.
