DO vs MD Anesthesiology Residency

I understand that the COMLEX will take you as far as DO residency programs and the USMLE will allow somewhat of a level playing fielf as far as allopathic residencies... Is there any negatives for just continuing the DO route and doing a DO residency?

I noticed in another thread that a lot people recommend taking the USMLE and applying to MD residencies so it seems like getting hired and future endeavors may depend on this.

Anybody have any input? Thanks!

What's up On my way there,

I don't know about you, but it seems that when it comes to DO Anesthesia residency nobody knows a thing. It's like a big black hole. There are so few slots, and the programs are so small, that info just doesn't get out. I find this frustrating.

Anyways, regarding your question. This is what I do know. Majority of the applicants out there apply MD. THe general reason seems to be more slots, better academic training. This is the reason for taking the USMLE.

If you do decide to go the DO route, you need to make sure you have rotations set early before your fourth year rolls around. DO programs seem to select more from the pool of students who rotate with them. The few slots there are during the ideal months go fast.
