Do White applicants have better educational status then Asian applicants?

(I don't know why I'm getting into this, but...)

Even if it is just a numbers game (which we all know it isn't), like someone mentioned earlier the white pool would have more people with higher stats than the Asian pool, since the pool is so much bigger.

So even if the Asian average is slightly higher, the actual number of higher scoring white applicants is more than that of the asian applicants.
 
Not quite, because as a percentage of the popuation MANY more asians apply to professional programs than do whites.

The numbers mentioned were taken with respect to number of applicants.
 
anybody have any links to dental stats such as # of applicants so far this year, etc? Break down of applicants last year (what's not in the ADEA book)? I can never find what I'm looking for

If people spent as much time working hard to get into dental school as they did complaining about be discriminated against, this would NOT be an issue. Gosh, forget discrimination. It's just an easy cop out for all the shortcomings.
 
I'm not even going to start with the media and the racism against Asians there. Look at all the movies, our people are portrayed as nerds, servants, and childlike figures. The media are taking away the masculinity of Asian men, and creating a sterotypes that we have to face in our everyday lives. Rednecks keep stopping me and asking me how do you say "hello" in my language...they think of us as the "others" the foreigners...even though our great grandfathers lived here. I don't stop them and ask them to speak Irish or Polish. Can you be the president or a senate if you're treated as the "others"? We are stigmatized. Like a visus, these attitudes towards us spread everywhere. l It is now 2006, and racism still exists! Let's join in and fight for Asian American rights! 👍

Yeah, and I am from the south and we are portrayed as *****s/rednecks in all the movies. BIG DEAL!! Get over it. It is a M-O-V-I-E. A lot of the murderers and rapists in movies are African-American men. That doesn't mean all AA men are murderers or rapists. It is a movie and in case you didn't know - This is also AMERICA. A free country. Freedom of speech ring a bell? If someone wants to make a movie that portrays Asian men as nerdy, then go for it. And if they want to make a movie that portrays southerners as *****s then that's great too. I'll watch them both. 🙂 I am not a *****, and I don't let stereotypes bother me. Exactly! I hate it when non-Asians think I"m Chinese and ask me to translate something in Chinese (Mandarin to be PC) since I can't read much characters. Then when I'm speaking Korean, some redneck asks me if I"m speaking Japanese. WTF?

And yeah, the hollyweird stereotype BS of Asians is so true. This is why I watch pirated movies so that hollyweird goes bankrupt. Hollyweird movies are plain garbage that pollutes your mind.

I even had non-Asians think I was a foreigner, and thought I couldn't speak English. Wasn't until I started yelling back at some ignorant people when they shut their traps.

Hey, I hope nobody took anything I said as disrespect to asians. The asian cultures I've been exposed to have admirable qualitites: strong family values, and a great emphasis on education.

I was just arguing there is no strong evidence to support discrimination of asians.

Lucky to be in the US? The US is lucky to have us!

Asians haven't accomplished anything in this country and it only seems like Asians have succeeded when you lump every squinty eyed individual together into a category, even then we're still under the power of the white man. The reality is, there is a great diversity of Asians. Some came here for an education. Some came with resources and put them to good use as business owners. And millions came here as refugees of wars, with nothing on their backs except a desire to achieve the American dream.

The reality is, most of these refugees have not made it and are living in poverty like many of our black and Hispanic brothers. They just aren't visible. Well, they do serve you in restaurants and work in sweatshops.

You need to open up your eyes and learn more about Asian Americans before you overgeneralize with your ridiculous blanket statements.

Asians are victims of affirmative action, as are whites, but even more so because we are overrepresented in universities. That's reality. I'm not playing any victimhood cards. I'm not asking for immediate change nor am I even asking for progress, Most importantly: I ask nothing from a bigot like yourself.

Technically, we're not all immigrants here.

Immigration is a legal term defined by existing governments. Europeans arrived closing in on 600 years ago before there was anything close to a government in place, and the native Americans arrived about 15,000 years ago.

If you want to argue semantics you can say native americans are immigrants, too. And, well, basically any Homo sapien sapien outside of southern Africa is an immigrant.

So, actually, no, we're not all immigrants. 😀 I'm 20 generations born to this land, immigrant isn't a word I'd use to describe my background.
