I came across this interesting website.

http://toptennation.blogspot.com/2008/03/top-10-easiest-us-dental-schools-to-get.html

We all have been strugguling long to get admission in US dental schools. And this website says, easiest dental schools for foreign trained dentist to get the admission.

It mentions, to get the admission in Boston, UCSF, Tufts, Upenn and several other schools is too easy...😡
I disagree. Getting into an International Program is not easy.
But the writer has a right to his opinion.

hi
even i don t agree at al l
i will suggest that writer should visit sdn and then he will definitely review what he has written :slap:

i do agree ( but partially)with the ranking on the webpage.
i feel the author is trying to rank schools relative to eachother and not saying that admission to IDP programs is easy.
it's a common knowledge that anyone with an average or even below average knowledge of dentistry and english can get into schools like NYU and Boston. These schools are running the program with the sole motive of making money.

so you mean to say that these are not good schools
well i think that these schools are especiallly for the foreign nationals thats why they have so many seats
well nyu is a3 yr program but as i have heard they have good volume of patients ........
may be my information is wrong
any way

I agree with Sella. Also 3 year program requirement in NYU is not due to the university, but due to the New York state. It is New York state's policy that requires students to study 2 years (like all other dental schools) + 1 year clinical practice at school.

Also NYU's fees are more due to the NY city itself. The school is located in Manahattan....

Folks,i disagree again, the program at NYU is actually absurd, those who think it is for benefit of international/foreign dentists don't understand that the motive is nothing but $$$$.
To begin with, if you are not a US citizen/green card holder you are not eligible for licence in NY state.
secondly,so as to practice in the state of NY you need to do one more yr of GPR or AEGD after DDS.So, if you wanna practice in NY you will have to undergo one more year.that makes the process 4 yrs for a NYU student.
remember,3 yr program at NYU will get you a DDS but not a licence in NY state( it will enable licence elsewhere)

i agree with the author of the webpage,NYU and boston are the easiest to get into

get into[/quote said:
i agree that they make money but we also get a degree in return
and nothing comes for free.........
do you think that those who are selected in those schools are not good students as many i know they all are geniuses
sometime circumstances are like that , that some students cant do good on their part 1 but that does not mean that they deserve to waste one more year to improve their score, so i look at these schools positively and think that they provide oppertunity to such students
more over at my place the most famous dentist is graduated from bu,
so i dont agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

well, even my own bro-in-law is a BU graduate and is doing gr8 in Ca, but that doesn't automatically make it the BEST school for me!! Infact, getting admission in BU is very easy if u have sum extra degree besides ur usual Part1, Toefl scores & GPA like a PhD or Masters in a subject even if it has nuthing to do with dentistry!!!

I have met & known so many BU & NYU graduates & blv me they all tell me that it really doesn't matter which school u get into......as in the end , u all have to face equal competition in market!! BU is preferred coz it is a 2 yrs course!

That doesn't mean that getting admission is easy in the east coast schools..... the competition is the same as with the other west coast schools. so try NOT to judge a school by just looking at its no of seats & the ease of getting into it!!! :nono: Go & see the school urself n then make an opinion!

I contribute to the above mentioned website, just to clarify, the post does NOT mean that these schools are easy to get into at all. It simply states which schools are EASIER to get into in comparison to ALL dental schools. NO DENTAL SCHOOL IS EASY!
I hope this clarifies the OP's concern.
