Do letters of recommendation have to be matched in your AMCAS before schools can see them? For a while now my AMCAS had indicated that all the letters were received but were not matched. During this time I've completed multiple secondaries and have yet to hear back from any of them despite turning in most secondaries mid-July. In short, does not matching my letters on AMCAS prevent schools from being able to read the letters? Or does AMCAS not send the letters to schools until they are matched together on AMCAS?

More information regarding the whole letters of recommendation and what AMCAS requires before they are sent would be appreciated.

What do you mean by "matched"? The letter has to be received by AMCAS, and assigned by you to each school you want to receive it. That's all that happens. If you don't assign a letter to a school, it will sit in AMCAS and won't be sent, received or seen by anybody.
