I was just wondering what people do when they are doing a masters program (MHA or MS) and find that they are accepted at a dental school? Do you drop out of your masters and join d.school? Earlier you cd defer admission for a year. Now, I dont think a lot of universities allow deferring admission. Anyone with experience regarding this, pls share your input. thanks...

cmon....anybody?? any help will be appreciated 🙂

do you have the option of deferring the program you are in? I did an MBA and there were people who left and came back years later. Or, can they let you do it online? Dds programs are getting so competitive every year, I don't think you should risk not going

Question is why would you even apply for dental school while being on a unfinished masters program... In my point of view it comes down to a matter of priority.

I know people that was accepted to an international dentist program right after finishing a masters, perfect timing.

If you are in this kind os situation you should ask directly to the head of admissions of the school, because even though someone here might have been on this situation things tend to change from year to another.

Good luck. 😉

Thank you Imani and Hope4.
@Imani...wow if the masters program lets you come back that will be awesome! (im thinking, how can u say that u r going to drop out to join D-school? :O
@Hope4..I have read posts of people regretting to not have applied to d-school before finishing masters..i mean perfect timing if u r accepted right away after masters...if not.....?

Ultimately, masters are a business and if you are a self pay they will not want to lose the money. Look through the school handbook and see what rules are for deferring. Sometimes they give time period for how long you can be out. Doesn't hurt to try, find an academic advisor and ask.
Also talk to the dds school you were accepted in to and see what they say about deferring.

I have been accepted at an MHA program starting next yr spring. But hoping that I get into an advanced standing program next yr. Just wanting to know the options and what people do in such a situation if accepted at d school. Thank u Imani for ur valuable advice.
