Personally know them? Know physicians with MBBS (Bachelor of Med., Bachelor of Surgery) instead of MD in the US? Do they have successful medical careers? Careers in private practice or academic? This is what most countries give. I believe it is also allopathic.

M.B.B.S. sounds like two degrees, but it is treated as one, since people with MBBS can practice medicine or surgery.

Wondering how MBBS-degreed doctors are treated in US? Are they allowed to teach at American schools/teaching hospitals? In several states (like NY), it was possible to convert MBBS to MD. In other state(s) like Wisconsin, MBBS doctors can write M.D. after the name.

I know an MBBS who is a residency program director in a competitive field at a very competitive institution. Personally know them. So yes, it's more than possible.

They are all over the place in the southern states

I don't know exactly how, but my primary care provider graduated from a Chinese med school (I asked) and puts an MD after her name.

Perhaps after residency they get to change it?

I think there are a couple of American schools in China that use the American curriculum

If you graduate with an MBBS, technically that is the degree you hold even if you come to America and complete a residency. I think some countries have a doctorate program where MBBS holders can earn an MD that very few clinicians ever complete. So, most doctors with an MBBS who sign MD after their name, aren't writing their correct degree, but for all purposes the two are equal in the U.S. (minus the discrimination from being a FMG), so who cares.

Also, some DO's have MD on their white coat. That still doesn't mean they really have an MD, it just means that's what they have on their coat. Again, who cares.

And the OP, anyone who knows an FMG, most likely knows an MBBS degree holder.

Yes. They all write "MD" after their name. I've never met someone who used MBBS.

Many universities outside of North America award MDs.

Those are Ph.D. equivalent research degrees, awarded only after earning the MBBS and writing a dissertation. In most, if not all states, anyone who has an MBBS, MBChB, etc... is entitled to use the MD suffix as long as they are licensed to practice medicine. This is generally NOT the case for DO degree holders.
