if you are coming from canada, you would be considered an international student so what kind of paperwork do you need to be able to study in the states?

Not to apply, but you'll need a visa to actually go to school in the states. It's not a big deal, just a matter of showing the school you've got the money/loans, fill out the paper work, and take it all with you when you enter the US.
