I always take at least one day a week off. Usually ends up being more than day. YOLO

I try to study almost every day. I do not succeed.

Thus far, for the most part, yes I study every day. We just started a new block that will allow for a lot more free time, so I may not study every day...

Some days I get nothing done, like today my wife got a new kitten so I'm so amused by everything it does I neglect my schoolwork. Then there are days where I study for 7-8 hours. I don't think I'm the type who can study literally all day long though I do know folks who can.

I heard Hopkins derm is pretty cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything

you're either trying to flip me crap because "hopkins derm" isnt actually a succinct group of people who would be currently talking about passing medschool courses

or

you dont engrish very well/often

😕

The point is that nearly no residency director gives a crap about your pre-clinic grades.

Ah.

I think Google is a pretty cool guy. Eh finds memes and doesn't afraid of anything 👍

👍 😀

Thank you for saving me a web-chastizing for not knowing your memes you epic noob.

Speaking of which there was definitely a thread about medical school memes - we need to bring that back.

the people that voted yes are lying. no matter how much of a gunner you are, i'm sure there was 1 day where you didnt study. so technically you have to answer no.

🙂

if u study daily ,,u will saturated with in a month so every student must take at least one day ,to do some thing else to refresh your mind ,,but i think its depends on person to person ,,in my college is see some guys u can study daily ,but i cant,,

Yes, with the exception of my post-block exam breaks (I'm not the most efficient, you see). My break begins today. 🙂

samsies! I have no problem cracking a beer at 9am if I just finished the test for the day. Unfortunately I had to be in the hospital this afternoon so I get to start my post exam celebration now instead 😀

Since undergrad, I've been trying to set up a study schedule that would give me one day completely off, but I have so far proven incapable of spending a full twenty-four hours away from my work.

right now, i'm in anatomy full throttle. I've been studying around the clock and literally wake up thinking about anatomy. and i'm still behind

Now that I'm an M2 I study every day, but I didn't when I was an M1. If it weren't for the looming dark cloud of Step 1, I'd be more chill.

Do you consider going/listening to lectures studying? If so, then yes. If studying means doing work aside from lecture, then no. I usually get no additional work done during the week, a couple hours each day on the weekend, then just hit it hard for a few days before the exam.

when we had biochem? I'd study twice a week

now that we have anatomy? every single day, no question

Biochem is more important than anatomy, just sayin

Also very little of it shows up at face value. Path and pharm are important. Biochem and anatomy give you some groundwork for those

What are you covering now?
We go by region so in the past 10 classes we've flown through the back, upper limb, and lower limb. Next up is a practical and exam followed by the thorax region. It wasn't until this course that I finally bought into the "drinking out of a fire hose" analogy

Yeah it feels like a lot of people have trouble keeping their head above water when they have anatomy. I kinda wished that the course was more spread out in my school but now that it's almost 2/3 over, I guess that it's not so bad. I was pretty scared for the musculoskeletal test but after I got through it, anatomy doesn't seem that bad.

Define studying. During MS1-2 I would read at least one or two vignettes from a question book or do a short block of those free utah med path questions online every day. It only takes around 5 minutes (or less).

During MS3 so far I try to uptodate at least one disease I have encountered/day. It has worked pretty well, and again it isn't very time consuming. It's also much more enjoyable when you actually have a patient you can think about while reading.

I'm just an obligate procrastinator and cannot study any more than 4 days before a test.

Something like this. 👍

It's a medical condition, in the same category of being an obligate aerobe/anaerobe.

...because being an obligate aerobe/anaerobe is a medical condition too? wtfbbq?

I study every day. Just until December, though....we have our most content heavy period first half of first year. So there's a light at the end of the tunnel...

...and a lot of dirty laundry I just don't have time for :-x

I can't tell if our content heavy period is now or later. We'll be done with cell bio, biochem, and genetics by christmas break, but to me, that just means we'll be spending more time on physio and anatomy. And starting in March, neuro.

I don't know how you guys do it, I study daily and I barely keep up.

I usually take friday afternoon and saturdays off. The thing is... it doesn't matter if I do those days or not, I am going to be behind regardless. So I might as well take a mental health day each week and have the energy to scramble the rest of the week.

I'm the opposite, actually. I used to study every day in M1, and now I study much less, but I focus on the important stuff more (and I've been doing just as well). As for step 1, that's in 7 months, my friend.

I have to study every day also. On the weekends i usually try to stop around 6 or 7.
