okay-- I just saw a post by a guy who is thinking about applying, and it got me thinking...

I have been planning on applying next year because I won't be able to graduate for 3 more semesters. But I have decent DAT scores and grades. Do you think I should try to apply to a few schools and see what happens?

These are my DAT scores:

PA- 21
QR-15
RC-17
Biology-22
GC-24
OC-29
TS-24
AA-21

I have a GPA of 3.91

I was planning on doing a bunch of shadowing THIS upcoming school year as well as research, so I don't have any of that done yet. I also of course don't have any letters of recommendation and I haven't even started to think about the personal statement.

what do you guys think, is it way to late to try and apply to a few schools even though I won't have graduated? I could try and cram in some shadowing before I apply next week (if I did).

your responses will be very helpful!

I think you should probably wait. If there were only two semesters left I'd say otherwise. Your stats are great, 3.91 wow. Doing the extra stuff couldn't hurt though.

with the trends that most of schools are accepting either only students with bachelors degree or most of students with the degree, i would also suggest waiting til next year.

getting LORs will take you at least a month (from getting them to sending them out) and application process will also take some time.
although I would say it would be possible for you to finish applying by October and land some interviews (due to your high GPA and DAT scores), I think in the long run you would probably appreciate having your bachelors done and also taking things more slowly (since you will have at least 4 years of more schooling afterward).

i think you could have a chance of getting in but if i were you, i would just enjoy undergraduate as much as I can - bc im pretty sure you'll be able to get into dental school next year cycle so why not enjoy while you can?
