Im a business major and a biology minor thats why its taking me an extra year to finish school.. I also have 4 years of Dental Assisting experience and will be getting my RDA license in a few months! I am currently studying for my DAT. Ladies and gentleman, please tell me what do you think of this trend and what chances i have since my science gpa is so low? Thank you so so much! Im worried i wont get accepted anywhere because of my science GPA!

with a 3.1 gpa as a science major, i would not say your chances are good.

but you have a chance, as everybody i'm sure will say.

Im minoring in biology not majoring...the reason why its so low is i did bad on 3 of my science classes...but since then i have been getting A's and B's on the rest of my sciences (about 7 classes)

good, then you can increase your science gpa more easily. do that and you'll be more competitive

You're trend is fine. You have a good overall GPA. Your sci GPA is not bad, but not great either. Luckily, you haven't taken many sci classes, so it will be rather easy to raise with additional upper level bio classes, in attempt to get above 3.25. In addition, aim for 20's (specifically in the sciences) on the DAT, and I think you'll be ok. Nice signature. If He be for you, who could be against you?

your first 2 years are so funny. In the fall you get 2.x and in the spring you get 3.5s lol.

I like your GPA, its very nice. Your sGPA on the other hand, needs a little work. I am assuming, that by end of spring of your 5th year, you'll be able to bring that 3.1 to...... 3.2?

3.5 with 3.2 isn't bad. If you aren't planning to do post-bacc, then you will need to depend VERY heavily on 2 other aspects.... #1) how many schools you'll be applying to and #2) what your DAT score will be (the AA and most importantly that TS)

IMO, I would aim at 15-20 schools and focus on out-of-state friendly schools.

Good luck on your DATs

This guy gives the best advice you will ever get.
Just throwing that out there.

You have a decent chance, depending on your DAT scores. I would apply to a couple post-bac or masters programs right now just in case you don't get in. Of course, you could also take a year off and work as a DA full-time during your gap year. Your choice really.

Everyone, thank you so much for words of advice I appreciate it greatly...

DentalWOrks: by the way, Im following your DAT 8 week plan with a little mix of my own so far so good🙂

I just recalculated my science GPA and for the first 3 semesters i had life problems and 6 of my lower division science classes i did really bad my science GPA was a 1.82. The next 7 semesters I took 11 science classes and averaged a 3.53 GPA.....however my overall science GPA came out to be 2.87 after I counted the 3 failed courses from the 1st 3 semesters....Currently i have a 3.51 GPA and considering if I get a 22+ on the DAT do you think i have a chance to get into a dental school...will they take the time to look at my trend and that after the 1st 3 semesters i have really excelled and brought my work ethic up by ALOT! My last 7 semesters my cumulative GPA have been averaging 3.7+
