The first time I took the test was last year in Tokyo, so I used a CRT since international tests have always been on the computer. And when I took the test this summer it was also offered on CRTs. My problem is that the test centers used low quality CRTs, and I could see them flickering. I notice the flickering because I spend so much time in front of LCDs, which operate differently. CRTs do cause eye-strain, and it is not healthy to be staring at a CRT for 5+ hours. I wish the test centers would use LCDs considering they are not that expensive. I've borrowed a CRT from a friend so I can do practice tests on it just to train my eyes.

I had a CRT, and from what I've read, everyone had them in the test centers. The ones at my test center were also very low-quality. I blame them for at least half of the brutal 3-day headache that I had after taking the test.

I actually had a very nice wall-mounted LCD monitor. We worked in desks with cubicle-esque walls and nothing was better. Not all test centers have crappy CRT dinosaurs. If you have the option to choose your location, choose the one that's more likely to be a high tech.

Took my test in Baltimore, Maryland and we had a beautiful testing center with large LCDs. It was quiet, well air conditioned, brand spanking new, and just a pleasant experience all around.
