Does 3.68 GPA look terrible compared to 3.7?

I know that admission will take 2 decimal places as consideration but having the first decimal place 6 instead of 7 seems bad to me. Do you think I should take extra classes to inc my GPA to solid 3.7 and how much will that affect my chance of acceptance?

No seriously... breathe...

Anything 3.x looks really bad. My advice is that you change your name and start life over with a 4.0+, and make sure to get at least 28+ on the DAT, maybe 29 because it's getting much more competitive lately.

I doubt that it will have any effect. Only way it has an influence is if that class is upper level science, but then they are only looking at that class not the GPA.

Very bad, 3.7 is put into a different file, THE MOST ELITEST FILE! Sorry you have to fall back into the subordinate, inferior file...

hey there,

Of course it would always be better to have 3.7 instead of a lower gpa, but taking extra classes would not necessarily equate to increasing your gpa. Only you can know for sure if it will actually work out that way. If that is as much as difference as you could make, then I would just play it safe.

Unbelievable. If it worries you that much, then take the extra classes to get your 3.7.

It does look terrible. You'll never get in. :meanie:

this is the same guy who asked if he should put video games in his personal statement..i think he also plans to study for the dat for 2 yrs or something

Are you serious? Stop worrying about such superficial things and take the DAT already. Studying for too long gets to your head.

Hmm..what a strange way to let us all know you have a high GPA.

If that question was actually real then get on some meds...stress kills ya know.

stick to 3.6, 3.7 looks horrendous

OP sounds like a future gunner

It is difficult to gauge the impact of .6 vs. .7 in the admissions game.

It is far less difficult, on the other hand, to gauge whether or not you are a huge D-bag.

Worst post I've ever seen.

If it would look "terrible" then you're basically talking **** about my 3.3 GPA, which I'm content with so far. C'est la vie buddy... you have bigger fish to fry.

Yeah, I know some adcoms, and I can tell you for a fact that a GPA that is divisible by two without annexing into the hundredths is looked upon much more highly. It indicates you are more well rounded and adaptable, so I'd definitely shoot down towards the 3.6.

Well, do you think 3.68 inches is a huge difference from 3.7 inches in length?

What is your DAT like? If have 22's across the board you should be fine with a 3.68. If not, you better bring that GPA up.

lol "annexing"

ok hehe.. i know every one is beign sarcastic in response to your question... but i know the feeling...

I, much like you, was paranoid that another.2 would bump me up to the next gpa range....

this is my response: if you feel that it will, strive for A+s and get the bump... i dont know if it helped me or not, but I was paranoid and did what it took to bump my gpa up to the next level.

Lol, looking back, I dont know if it really made a difference. I got in to the school I wanted to and am happy about my decisions and would do it all over again. However, if that bump is not possible at this point, don't worry about it and stay confident. You are completely okay with the gpa you have. Just make sure u have a DAT score that reflects what your gpa reflects.

Good Luck.

Everyone needs to stop picking on him and just give him the facts. Joon, you need to get at least a 3.72 or you'll end up going to dental school at Puerto Rico. I'm like you, I only have a 3.68 and I have to go to school in the Great White North (Canadia for all of those not in-the-know).

Thanks~ I decided to take some easy classes(sculpture, intro to sociology) and histology.

Couldn't stop laughing after reading this one, haha.

OMG, your dumb@%% threads piss me off. You ask the stupidest questions sometimes, you paranoid freak. Btw, why stop at 3.7? Why don't you keep taking classes till you can raise it to a 4.0.

unbelievable!!!!

OP, if you're who I'm thinking of, you go to CC, correct?
If so, you should be more concerned about achieving a high GPA in a 4 year college, as DS often prefer that is where you complete your pre-requisites.

This post is exactly whats wrong with SDN. Whoever made this post and asked this question, I have four words for you.

YOU ARE AN IDIOT

Me neither....still chuckling....

LMAO on this! I swear some of these threads are freaking stupid..people need to get slapped for these type of questions

Hahaha hilarious. Reminds me of the time a mod recently awarded me a "language infraction" for throwing the word "d*****baggery" at someone in a thread.

Wow I'm off SDN for a month and nothing changed. This dude still starts ridiculous threads. Seriously, next time wait until you have a REAL question before posting.

Why does this post even exist and especially from a super senior poster with 1800+ posts!

I dont know about you guys, but posting this thread about a 3.68 GPA with those HEARTS flying around those smily faces. I just wanna slap someone right now. So I guess I should COMPLETELY give up dental school with a 3.45..............gosh what a d-bag

Where did the OP go?

I miss him...
if i was the OP i would be hiding in a cave right now, with all the flaming going on...but ya seriously .2? might matter for Harvard but not much for the rest

I'm pretty sure JoonKim is a guy.... lol if you google the name but again that doesn't matter

Yeah, of the 5 or 6 Joon Kims in my O-chem class, I believe all were guys.

But you never know, maybe this Joon Kim's parents were rebellious anti-establishment types that spit in the face of tradition.

lol...based on my limited korean (i'm not korean), it depends on the middle name like if it is Joon-Hee, then it's a girl or if it's Joon-Hyun it's probably a boy.

I thought it was the opposite 😕
