im taking one really easy intro class this semester, is it worth putting in extra time to get an A+ rather than an A? I haven't gotten an A+ before and was just wondering if the adcoms will see the A+, if i end up getting one.

its not worth it.

Just get the best grade you can. If the class is easy, then it shouldn't require that much work anyway...

AMCAS does not report A+.

AMCAS does not report A+.

From what I remember, A+'s do show up on your AMCAS transcript, but you do not get anything more than a 4.0 GPA for that course.

yeah. i dont know what AMCAS does since i didnt apply allopathic...but the osteo app service doesnt care about A+ grades (either).
I got an A+ in first semester Organic Chemistry and it didnt boost my GPA anymore than a regular A would have. But I think it certainly looks good to have an A+ on your transcript (and in such a difficult course).
I wouldnt think that getting an A+ in "intro to weight-lifting" would look anywhere near as impressive.
but who cares, just do your best and see what comes of it. you shouldnt be motivated by the grades anyway, right? its the knowledge and your curiosity that drives you 😉

Don't overwork yourself for it, but if it's there, take it. It's a nice ego boost to see that on your transcript if nothing else.

no, AMCAS strikes all A+'s down to A's

Unfortunately, if you have A+ on your transcript that count as 4.33 they will be cut down to 4.00 which will decrease your GPA... my AMCAS calculated gpa on my mdapps is lower than the GPA my school tells me I have.

Fortunately, though, if you're a good enough student to get the A+ I doubt the difference between a 3.86 and 3.92 will keep you out of schools...

AMCAS keeps A+s and Adcoms can see them, however numerically they count for the same thing as As (4.0).

On my AMCAS, all of my A+'s were corrected to As. And the final AMCAS only showed A, not A+.

I guess we had different processors. Maybe they don't have a set guideline for this. Mine definitely still show up as A+s.

As do mine.

it doesn't. nobody's gonna take the time to comb through your transcript, use that extra time to get wasted or something you enjoy

why is there a disagreement in this issue? amcas would not change their policy for different transcripts, right?
im worried now :scared:

Did Stewart University give your transcript a thorough look?

That place is tough as **** to get into. Congrats.
