Does a research PI from an MD count as a physician LOR, even tho it wasn't clinical?

I was on a research study and my PI wrote me a med school LOR. She is an MD, and I was planning to use this as my physician letter of rec. However, does this count even though I never worked with her in any clinical capacity? I wasn't sure if "physician letter of rec" means from literally any doctor or specifically those you worked with clinically.

Yes, though I'm not sure most schools request a physician rec

What is the wording describing the letter requested? As noted, there are a few MD schools that request a "clinical" letter, but very few specify a "physician" letter.
