Does any retail pharmacies actually sell Schedule V's without a Rx?

Disclaimer I haven't worked in a retail pharmacy in nearly a decade.

Studying for my MPJE - Do any retail establishments actually sell OTC schedule V's without a rx? I have been in exactly 3 that I know of that sold Robitussin AC - and between floating for a couple of chains, and working relief - I have worked in 50-60 different stores.

I remember about 8 years ago I was out of town, sick as a dog, and didn't want to go to urgentcare bc I would have been out of network. I tried to find a place that would sell me some, I felt like a total junky explaining my circumstance. Of course, no one would sell me it - Most of them said it was against the law. Then showed them my RPh license (I was licensed in the state I was visiting) and told them it wasn't against the law, but I understood if it was against their store policy. FInally one admitted they did, but they were sold out.

Purely out of curiosity.

God no....no manager I have ever worked with would condone such a practice (even if legal) mainly for drawing the wrong crowd of people and excessively having to cater to such people and the backlash/complaints that would follow

We have a lot of geniuses who clamor for promethazine plain these days and even try to call in fake promethazine. However they don't actually want robitussin AC as guaifenesin doesn't have the opioid potentiating effect that promethazine does

LMAO, yes, I've seen this attempted....man, I would not trust an illicit drug dealer who is bent on stretching his/her product...always about the almightly $$$. Thank God PMZ+Codeine has been on backorder since like August (still irks me how many prescribers we would have to contact when Rx'ing 473mL PMZ+Codeine who think nothing of it)

I think Robitussin AC is the only drug left on the market and you would have to have the 4 oz package size and the appropriate log book even if your state law allowed it. For all intntents and purposes, this does not really exist anymore. We used to sell a crap load of Robitussin AC, Donnagel, Parapectolin and Novahistine DH back in the day.
