Does anybody know how important the U of Toronto interview is weighted?

I was just wondering if anyone has any info. on how UofT admits people. On their website they said they take GPA, Dat and interview to make a final decision, and I cannot find any specific information on how important these measures are weighted anywhere else. I recently had an interview which I think went o.k. (they were very nice) but I think my GPA is probably at the low end of the distribution (In fact I haven't met anyone who's GPA is lower than mine!)

Any info. anyone has would be much appreciated, thanks !

Hey,

congrats on getting an interview, it's not easy! You did your best on the interview and it's good that you felt comfortable with it. I'm not sure how it's weighted but I guess it just gives them an overall picture of who you are.

You said your stats are on the low side. I have a question about GPA at UT. If i'm in my third year and i'm gonna apply this spring/summer will they look at my 2 best years? (they say they drop your worst year if you're going to complete 4 years by May) So do I get to use my best 2 years (my 1st and 3rd)? Also, my 1st year only had 4 FCE while my 2nd and 3rd both have 5 FCE. So will I still be considered?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Yes that is true if you are in your fourth year or higher they will drop your lowest year. They state on their website that course load does not matter at all and is not considered as a factor in your admission, so they will use your 1st and your third. You should check their conversion scale for other univerisities; each letter grade means something different depending on what school you come from, for example, an A from UofT converts to a 4.0, an A from UBC converts to a 3.9, and an A from YorkU converts to a 3.8.

As far as GPA goes, if I can use my first and third year, i'll have above a 3.75 (depends on how I do on my exams). Does that leave me in a decent position for an interview. I know that it's not an amazingly high GPA but would it put me at a huge disadvantage or should I have a good shot at an interview with that GPA?

I've heard the interview is weighted very very little. Basically, they're looking for high GPA people. I think GPA is weighted something like 75% GPA, 10% DAT, and 15% interview?
I'm not sure if I'm getting those numbers confused with Western's (which has a slightly higher weighting for interview, and slightly less on GPA)

The average GPA of last year's class was 3.81 so if you're above that, I think you're pretty much in.
That being said, I think your chances are pretty good if you had an interview. Because they weed people out pretty stringently according to GPA right off the bat.
