Yes, I mean this one.

Does anyone else find it rather troubling that an adcom for *one* school is giving out answers to very specific questions about what he looks for in a candidate to applicants at several other schools? I feel bad for these kids that are taking the opinion of one member of one adcom as the perceived gospel of all things admissions...when in reality, most of this junk they are asking about varies from school to school.

Or maybe my disdain for people in academia is just creeping through a tad bit too much...either way...

I don't know WVU. I mean, supposedly, there were between 1,200-1,400 completed applications this cycle at my COP for 160 or so spots.

If I were having to fight a crowd that big, I'd be reading every single thread in the pre-pharmacy forum to get ideas... but I would still make my own decisions. Shoot! I would probably be reading etiquette books, as stale as they can be, too.

Bearing in mind that while we have access to info as mods that the general user may not, we still don't verify actual identities. So for all I know they're posting from a double-wide in WV.

I agree that getting advice from someone on the other side would be helpful. If they were giving shady advice, I'm sure we'd have had a reported post or two. I think the point of the thread is that no one should take the opinion of an adcom member from one school and apply it to all schools (or really to more than the school they represent). Also, SDN runs on a buyer beware type system where we don't verify the advice given by regular posters whatever they claim themselves to be, so take any advice with a grain of salt.
