Because I swear to god, every time I click on someone's MDapps on here, they got rejected pre-secondary. WTF? I mean, do they have students at that school or what?😕

How in the hell do you get to the point where they offer you a secondary? I know they screen, but seriously, I see people with high GPA and high MCAT get rejected pre-secondary, people with high GPA and average MCAT, people with average GPA and high MCAT, people with average GPA AND MCAT...is there some sort of magic recipe for what you need to have to get to the secondary? I'm just trying to figure out whether I should bother applying.

do some research on the school and the area and then make that decision. there is not a magic recipe for admission although it helps if you are from nc.

I guess residency is the magic ingredient then, because none of the people I looked at who got rejected pre-secondary were from NC. Pretty bizarre for a private school.

I think the high number of rejections might have something to do with a high number of applications. Kind of like Drexel or RFU and some other schools that are pretty popular because they have "lesser" numbers.

Hmmm, maybe, but that'd only explain the rejects with the really high stats in both areas (don't worry, doesn't pertain to me, hehe 🙄).

I considered applying there for undergrad, but ended up not doing it.

That is for the interview and not the secondary.

I dont know about the secondary, but I was not offered an interview outright. They offered me one when I called the adcoms office to check my status.

I was good enough to get a secondary but not good enough to interview. Bottom line, even screening schools manage to dupe me into giving them my money.

the first time i applied i got an email saying they received my application, then about 15 minutes later said "after careful consideration..." I had been rejected pre-secondary. this was in like september, so they dont wait long to send out rejections

my husband got in to wake forest, i remember him calling to express his interest and then boom invited for an interview. he was oos but had gone to school in nc (go heels!)

i think a ton of people apply there though, and their class size is modest-ish.

That was one thing that I liked about the schools that screened. They saved me money and writing essay time. I was in a much better mood doing the secondaries for those schools since I knew that they were at least interested in me. I wish all schools did that.

I know someone who received secondary application from every school that screened except Wake Forest. The school asked him to write an extra essay and decided not to send him a secondary after reading it.
