Hey all,

I was wondering if medical schools offer need based grants to med students. If someone received grants in undergrad and graduate school because they were considered "low income" should they expect to get some grants in medical school. Or does all the "aid" come in the form in loans?

Does anyone out there actually get grants or know anyone that does?

Even if its $5k, it still ends up helping, right?

Hah! Funny question. The answer is no, no, no. There are no federal need based grants for medical students, so you can only get them if your school offers them. Some schools have 'em and some don't. Some are generous with giving them out and some aren't.

Lots of people fund their medical school education solely through loans.

Some schools have work study.

Yes, need-based grants exist. How much is available varies greatly from school to school.

Yes, but how does one find out about these things? It seems maybe 5% of universities include that information. It's unfortunate this is placed in this forum since it seems so dead in here and the people that klnow(in the schools themselves) sure ain't coming in here.
