Does any of you received interview invitation from ubc-canada? do you know if we have to wear a suit for the mandatory open house day as well? don't know why the open house day is so long! i was wondering whether i need to wear a suit for that day...

I was wondering the same thing.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the appropriate dress for the Open House Day - but in my opinion it is better to be overdressed than underdressed... There is an itinerary of the Open House day sent via an attachment. Some of the events of that day that I remember off the top of my head are: UBC Welcome, Introduction/Overview of PBL in the morning, Lunch with Faculty and Students, two small breaks, Forensic Dentistry, tour of the buildings, Financial aid session at 4pm and a Q&A with admins.

I am attending the UBC interview on February 6/7... Im an IP applicant. What days are you attending and are you IP or OOP?

what's IP? 😳 is it in province? then i am IP.
i am attending at the end of Jan... jan30/31
hm... i can't imagine wearing my heels for the entire day on friday and also on saturday so was hoping that we don't have to wear suits for the open house day. but i guess i will wear it...

So Contach, did you get accepted anywhere in states yet? W/ that kind of DAT score and GPA, I thought you would've gotten interviews from all the schools you've applied, especially BU, temple and NYU.

This whole applying to dental schools just doesn't make any sense.

Hi.. I am wondering how you are interviewing at UBC with a carving score of 9... I thought the minimum was a 12?

I too didn't do too well on my carving, but I scraped by above the minimum they have on their website... For this reason my carving/PAT score is very low, and well below their average for those accepted last year (which I think was a 20.something)

No acceptances yet 🙁. Still waiting.. I haven't even been invited for interviews at BU, Tufts or NYU. I think it's because my application was submitted so late... Even if I do get invited, I probably won't attend any of these schools' interviews anyways - so take that a**hole schools!

Yeppers,

I'm a 2nd time applicant (no inty last year), and will be there Jan 30/31. I'm also IP. weeeeeeeeeeeeee

Lucky you IPs! lol
I'm an OOP from UWO.
I've got few acceptances to the state school but
i really wanna go to UBC. I love the weather and everything there.
oh and it's safe.

anyways I'm attending on feb 6/7

What do i have to do to accept the interview invite?
it says to just email back or something? so I emailed back but no response

anyways good luck to all of you!

I gotta start memorizing those structured interview questions lol

Oh sorry! Those are my scores from last year. I re-wrote the cDAT this past November. I guess I should put my new scores on predents. Yea I think my carving score was what held me back last year. I didn't do too well this year either but I think the fact that this is the first year UBC started giving preference to IP students helped me get an interview. I wouldn't worry about last years stats too much because last year the ratio of IP:OOP was 50:50 whereas it'll be atleast 90:10 this year. A lot less competition this year in my opinion.

Just go to Nova dchung.
By farrr better weather down in Florida and smokin' hot girls down there hands down. And I think everyone can agree w/ me on those two facts minus the hurricane but then there's earthquake to worry about in Vancouver.

I'll be trying to attend, I recently got married down here in Houston, TX - and now strangely enough, I need permission to come back to Canada 😕 .

Will know for sure on Wednesday morning when I meet the mean immigration people...

Only school worthy of being referred to as an a**hole school is the one which you so enjoyably attend.

It's a weekend, they won't email you back on a saturday or sunday...

good luck to you too! maybe i'll see you on the 6/7th!

good thing about the poor economy right now is that flights from ontario to vancouver are cheap as never before 🙂 gotta love it...

why would they do that? why are you barred from visiting canada for a couple of days? that is just weird...

do any of you guys know how the CDA style interviews are structured and what type questions are asked in these interviews? I know that they are completely different from the interviews conducted at US schools but I was just wondering how different they actually are.

Well, not permission to re-enter Canada specifically, rather permission to re-enter the US once the interview is over. The US agencies are really strict about intent to stay etc, so I need the paperwork to have my bases covered. Can't go to the interview and then be stuck away from my wife due to bureaucracy..
