Does anyone know if it costs money to become uncredentialed by insurance companies?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I am changing jobs from a practice where I am credentialed with insurance companies to a fee for service practice. To drop insurance companies, is there a fee associated with that? I just want to make sure before finishing contract negotiations.

Thanks!

You would have to check the contract that you signed.

Probably not, but consult an attorney.

However, there may be a notice time period.

Insurance companies thought I was with a practice for 10 years after I left it.

OMSDoc's rule of thumb:

Dental insurance is not insurance at all. It is a lay-away plan.

And these companies are not in business to help their subscribers. They are in business to collect premium dollars and not pay claims.
