So just applying to Medical School this cycle & I have a great big list of schools & can't decide what I like yet. However, I thought I read that LSU requires an in-state residency after graduation? Is this true? So 4 years of medical school + 4 years of Residency IN Louisiana, no ifs, ands, or butts?

I could't dig a whole lot up about this school or the program so I was wondering what anyone else thought? I just don't want to paint myself into a corner >_>
Thanks guys 🙂

I dont see how a school could possibly enforce a residency placement

Their match list indicates that plenty of their graduates train elsewhere.

Read up on their service requirement.

Am I missing something? This is right from their faq:

What about residencies? Where do your graduates go?

In a word – everywhere! Through our statewide clinical campuses, our students have a wide variety of residency opportunities available right here in Ohio. From Level 1 trauma centers to community hospitals and from metropolitan and suburban areas to rural regions, the CORE offers it all. Graduates completing residencies outside of the clinical campuses have gone to the Cleveland Clinic, the Dallas/Forth Worth Medical Center and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, just to name a few.

OP asked about a school requiring you to do residency in state. Not sure how they could enforce that, and your example doesn’t seem to contradict that.

Ah! Okay! I guess that was the baseline question stem was "Do any schools require you to STAY in state after you graduate from an accredited medical school?" But I think you're all right, how could they? You have the right to apply anywhere, right?
