Does anyone know where I can buy a laboratory kit for practicing tooth waxing?

jesus the overachieving gets more and more out of control every year...

you want to develop good hand skills? Play video games or take up carpentry. No one comes close to being as proficient in labs as people who do either those two well...

I'm a predent and will be applying in June. I've been searching everywhere for a laboratory kit to practice tooth waxing. If you know where I can buy one, please IM me.

I ADMIRE YOUR ENTHUSIASM, YOU CAN ORDER FROM A DENTAL SUPPLY COMPANY, DO A SEARCH ON GOOGLE.
GET THE MEDIUM WAX AND A "PKT 1-4" AS WELL AS A "HOLLENBACK CARVER" .

MASTERING WAX WILL SERVE YOU WELL.

I'll sell you my complete wax kit, including all instruments and plenty of wax to spare for only $1000. I'll also throw in the lab manual teaching you proper technique for an extra $500. If you want notes, that's going to be extra, but it'll be worth it because it'll all be typed up and that's an extra $30,000. This will help you greatly, especially if you want to go into specialty!

u havent even gotten into a school yet and u want to start doing waxups???

Honestly unless you have at least some direction and a dentoform you won't be able to learn much. But that being said all you really need is a half hollenback carver and a PKT 2 or 1 to get plenty of practice in. Of course you would need wax too.

my dentoform is for sale too! the maxillary AND mandibular arch! Only $899

I'll seriously sell you my stuff. Pkt's, carver, and models. How much are you looking to spend? PM me

they give you directions at MCG?? that is more than we have at vcu.... they show us a video the first day of carving on how to carve #8 then they let us loose on everything else.. no wonder i sucked at it (thank god that course from hell was over)..

i think it is less direction and more attention to detail. you know . . . where you think you have a bitchin' wax up and you show it to them and they bust out a gauge and tell you are 0.25 mm short somewhere or something needs to look "more bulky".

the best quote so far is a teacher telling every student that shows her a wax up of a mand. 1st molar "your occlusal anatomy looks like you carved it out. You see . . . occlusal anatomy is made by the developmental lobes fusing together . . . you need to make it look like that"

that part was definitely not in the lecture

I know it sounds funny that I want to practice but I actually enjoy doing it. I worked with a Prosthodontic for a year and and two years in an orthodontic clinic. I had to make temporarys in pros and tons of other stuff in ortho dealing with planning and building...I loved it. I figured if I had a lab kit it would be similar in a sense of building and carving teeth.

So I guess I would call myself an overachiever because I want to do things that I love. 🙄

I wish you would have been around when I was in dental school. I'll do anything to provide enjoyment to others. You could have done ALL my lab work. That's the kind of guy that I am. I aim to please.

Do you live around a dental school? Walk inside, say, "Excuse me. I worked for a prosthodontist doing labwork for a couple years. I'm hoping to start dental school, and I wanted to help with some lab work to keep my skills up." Now, assume the guard position, because you're about to have 100 dental students throwing articulators at you...
