Does Baylor still have rediculous interviews?

I interviewed at Baylor 2 years ago. My friends and colleagues still can't believe the ridiculous and unprofessional interviewing environment they created. One room in particular made us tell dirty jokes (someone I interviewed with had to tell another because it wasn't "dirty enough"), put together a pen, and answer crazy word problems. One of the interviewers actually left the room during someone's interview because he felt "bored." Does this craziness still happen? I think we all ranked Baylor (which is otherwise a strong program in many respects) lower because of this. Oh, I forgot the pre-interview dinner in which a PHARMACEUTICAL company sponsored the entire night (complete with pens). LOL!!!

I interviewed there this year and they still make you disassemble a pen, play some word games and say a joke (clean) in one of the rooms. It was totally benign and the interviewers were funny themselves.

Overall the day was just like any other and the residents were great and joked about it.

I heard they make you spell ridiculous

I hate it when people are picky about spelling but that was hilarious!!

Ouch! I got spanked by the spelling police...LOL. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they did ask something as crazy as that. I just heard that they went unmatched this year...I wonder if the interview hurt them.

There are 2 Baylor programs, Houston and Dallas.

Baylor Dallas went unmatched.

There is a reason that they went unmatched...hopefully that will end the interview shenanigans...habits tend to die hard.

I was under the impression that BCM in Houston was the program with the notorious interviews, but I'm not sure.

I was also told by people that were likely in the know that Baylor went unmatched because they were saving the spots for out of the match positions. I'm not sure how that works but that is what I was told

That's not true. They had people that scrambled into the unmatched spots. It was not reserved for out of the match positions. I know one of the people that scrambled into the position.

People were just plain unimpressed and they went unmatched.

I'm still wondering for certain, which school has the ridiculous interviews? BUMC (Baylor U in Dallas) or BCM (Baylor in Houston)?

I'd like to know for sure which Baylor has the rediculous interviews as well...

Baylor College of Medicine in Houston has the 'ridiculous' interviews, but really, they're isn't anything 'ridiculous' other than disassembling a pen. No dirty jokes, awkward moments etc.

Baylor University in Dallas went unmatched. This program is small, takes 2 residents and went unmatched for undisclosed reasons.

Baylor Houston matched all of their spots. Takes 4 residents.

Hope this helps!

Derm programs rarely go unmatched...there is usually a story behind it (usually closely guarded) and doubt that it is random, especially at small programs. Some places just didn't interview enough people but usually they have a 8:1 or 10:1 (or even higher) interview ratio of applicants to positions available. They also usually know how to interview appropriately and "set themselves up for success" which makes it even more odd for programs to go unmatched.

Anyhoo....
