I have been working on the EC section for the upcoming cycle, and decide to use bullet point instead of narrative. But after I finish writing and start reading it, the whole section sounds like a CV. My question is are we supposed to put lots of "how it makes me feel" or "what I gained from this experience" into the EC section?

For example:
- XX Hospital (05/2015- 05/2017) 150 hours
- Restock patient rooms in the telemetry unit
- Answer and communicate with nurses regarding call lights
-Provide a comforting presence to patients in their rooms
- Welcome visitors and act as a point of contact for families
- Collect and delivered electrocardiogram between different units
- Provide aids for the discharge of patients

Are we expected to reflect on this experience and add something like "-learn to work with patients and be compassionate?"
Also just want to poll what style people are using.

I wrote a short narrative for everything and focused on what I learned rather than covering my duties.

1) For Most Meaningful activities one generally includes impact & insights gained. For other entries you may not have the space after description and role (though sometimes you don't need to waste space on these when one can assume adcomms already know from the name of the activity). If you have room and have something to say about how you grew as a person/what you learned, you're welcome to add it, but this sort of introspection isn't suitable to every activity, so don't force it.

2) It's fine to mix and match styles, either narrative or bullets as seems best suited to convey the information you want adcomms to know, but use something other than a classic "bullet" like a dash, or a star, rather than attempting to cut and paste a real bullet, so it will be visible in the PDF view when you're done.

Thank makes a lot of sense. Is it correct to assume we don't need to do introspection for activities such as volunteering at hospitals, shadowing, etc.?

It isn't obligatory, but if you have thoughts on these experiences you want to convey, feel free to include them. Succinctly.

Another question often asked is whether one should link every activity back to medicine, and the answer is a resounding, "No."
