just wondering!

I thought they screen before they send out secondaries? Their website says so:
"After receiving the application materials from AMCAS, our Admissions Office will review the materials. If your credentials qualify, we will notify you to fill out an on-line supplemental application, which should be returned to us within two weeks (no later than December 1). "

Is that just something they say to make you feel special?

They don't need to. Half the people just look at the amount of work it requires and quit :D

Credentials could be everything from a full file review to simple having a pulse. It seems they're just really behind this year, which while annoying, has turned a lot of people off to Duke. Less competition for the rest of us.
