I am only 19 years old but I am a junior in college. I did full time dual enrollment during high school at a community college (I attend a university now). I have taken heavy course loads every semester I have been in college (Dean's List every semester). I am a first generation college student and I take school very serious. GPA is 3.8, Science GPA (BCP) is 3.68, DAT: 18 AA, 18 TS, 22 PAT, 19 QR, 19 RC. My goal has to become a dentist for a very long time but since I am young will they think I am not mature enough for dental school?

I will begin applying this summer and I just turned 19 a few days ago so I will be 19 through most of the applying/interview process. I am a very self motivated person so I hope it helps me stand out.

If age in numbers is your concern then don't worry about it. You already sound mature enough to take full grip on your future GL!

I went through the entire application and interview process at 19 years old also. I was just recently accepted, so my advice is just keep pushing forward. Age will probably be brought up during the interview, but just respond maturely and you're good to go. PM me if you have any questions.

Don't worry just got accepted this cycle and I'm 20.

Yeah I got accepted at 20 too. I felt the same exact way, but do not let it discourage you. One of the interviewers said it was impressive I have accomplish that much at my age. Best of luck.

I went to UOP and since we have an accelerated undergrad program (2+3 and 3+3) I had a few classmates who were not even 18 when they matriculated. Being young doesn't hurt you they just want you to have good stats and be mature and serious about your studies.

On top of what others have said, one thing to watch out for is to not bring up your age as an issue during the interview unless they specifically ask about it. You want them to know that you believe in your own maturity and have no problems physically being 19.

I'm 37 and just got in, so age wasn't an issue there. One of my interviewers got in at 19. Age is a non-issue.

Age is not an issue getting in if you have a proven track record. But, we had two students who were 19 yo when they started d-school who were smart, but neither ended up graduating. Lack of maturity was the case for one and lack of life experiences was the case for the other.
