Does look bad to go to several different community colleges/universities? So far I have taken classes at three community colleges and one university. This spring will be 2 universities. It seems that a lot of people take course work at different locations. But, has anyone been at as many locations as I have? lol

I have transcripts from seven different schools, but one 'main' school.

i have one transcript from my undergrad (with most of my classes), along with transcripts from cornell, my local commuter university, and will have taken classes at my local community college + an online class at university of minnesota next semester. in the end, i will have transcripts from 5 places.

Well, does it matter? If you have that many, it is what it is. You have to report them all, so don't kill yourself worrying about it.

That said ... no, I don't think it hurts you, mostly because I can't imagine why it would.

I turned in 2 transcripts from private colleges, 1 from our state university (also the vet school to which I applied), 1 from a state college, and 1 from a community college.

an online class at university of minnesota next semester.

... and you're applying at UMN CVM, right? RIGHT? 🙂

Don't worry about it! I've heard a ton of people in vet school gripe about how much of a hassle it was for them to send over 5, 7, or 10+ transcripts.

If anything, I personally think it shows tenacity. It's a lot easier to matriculate as a traditional student into a 4 year university straight from HS and just register for courses each semester and get all the pre-reqs in. If you had to take a ton of pre-reqs at a bunch of different schools, it takes a lot of initiative to get each one of those done.

I went to 3 different universities in undergrad. I'm a "traditional" student in that I went from high school to college to vet school with nothing really in between. It took me 6 years to get through undergrad because of changing schools. I was sure that it was going to be a death sentence. I had heard that changing schools showed adcoms that you weren't able to have stability and that it would hurt my chances. I have no idea if it did hurt my chances at the places that didn't get accepted to, but at the end of the day, I still had an acceptance letter in my hand.

I have 5 transcripts: One from my "main" undergrad, 2 from community colleges where I took class from time to time, 1 from my first year of college at a different school, and 1 from my graduate program.

You can take this info with a grain of salt b/c I obviously haven't been accepted yet...but I have more than 17 pages of transcripts from four different schools. A local community college where I took a few dual credit classes in high school and a few undergrad courses, my main undergrad transcript, my graduate transcript, my teachers certification transcript, one from UC Davis (where I started a Masters degree but didn't finish the semester), and one from the university the next town over where I'm currently taking Biochem. Lacey at Western was amazed at all of them. Lol.

Take it from somebody who has to file all. those. transcripts. by. hand. It's not uncommon AT ALL for someone to have 2, 3, 4, 5, or more transcripts. It's fine =)
