PASS opens May 15th, but the deadline is sometime late summer/early fall. If I submit my app in August, will I be at a disadvantage? Specifically curious about Ortho apps.

Why are you needing to submit in August?

It matters "Big League" as the man in the White House says.

Doesn't really matter so much for ortho. As long as you submit it by the deadline, you should be fine. Ortho programs always send interview invites after the deadline.

Anyone that may be looking into OMFS, it definitely matters. Most people would say as long as you are in before the deadlines you are good. However many programs sent out interview invites well before those deadlines. Get your Application in early. What about taking the CBSE in August right before deadlines start? Do your best to take it in February or earlier and don't find yourself in that position. Sure there are plenty of people who have great apps and scores and submit it in late august and get plenty of interviews, but why risk it? Long story short, it's not a deal breaker submitting it before deadlines at the end of August/Early September but it IS beneficial to submit early.

Thank you, I figured so much. If anyone else knows for Ortho, please comment!

So for ortho, I was trying to decide whether to take the GRE the first or second week of may.... Based on what you guys are saying, it probably doesn't matter if I get it done too early, and could aim to go a little later? Still hoping to get everything submitted by mid June or so.

That’s if the testing centers are even open by then. If they are, given the tests that have already been put on hold, it might be hard to get an appointment to take the test.

There are options to take it proctored from your house. So I think people that haven't been able to take it in person have been able to take it from home. Thus I think scheduling shouldn't be an issue.
