As the title states, does it matter which post doc endo program you attend? Or is it just like predoc where you get in wherevers the cheapest/instate. Obviously getting into endo has its own level of competitiveness.

For example, if you know the endo department at your alma mater isn’t the best (ie they don’t have a great number of patient volume due to splitting with predoc) but you have the best connections there, is it worth to continue pursuing as you have a *slightly* better chance?

** this was posted in the dental residents forum as well but I now think it was a better suited question for this forum.**

IMO it is better to be inside wishing for better training than outside looking at how to get in and watching another year pass by that you aren't done training and/or aren't doing what you want to be doing. Do everything in your power to go to a program that trains well and doesnt treat you horrendously. If that's not possible then just go to where you can.

Some endodontic programs prepare their doctors very well in surgical treatment (Penn), others introduce their residents to cutting edge tech (Einstein), and others excel in broad and extensive clinical experience (Pitt). Some are leaders in regen (San Antonio).

Every program will give you the skill set to be a talented endodontist, so at the end of the day it only matters that you've gone through the rigors of residency.
