I am a PS3 and my current GPA is a 2.996, by the end of this year, I can bring it up to 3.096 maybe even a 3.1. How bad will this look? I really wish I could rewind time and do well. I know I had the potential but I just chose not to work hard since most people told me freshman year that GPA does not matter 🙁 wish I didn't listen to them.

I've heard that some employers will filter applicants that are below a 3.0 GPA.

I all depends on what you want to do. Generally, experience means much more than GPA.

You do not have to write your GPA on your resume. If you are planning on going into retail you will rarely, if ever, be asked to disclose it.

I currently work at a specialty pharmacy as a pharmacy student/technician, so I am hoping upon graduation, they won't ask for my GPA. I am hoping to work at a specialty pharmacy (if not offered a position at my current location)

I have never been asked for my GPA, at either a hospital or retail job. Nobody cares. Now if you are planning to go for a residency, then it would matter.

Nobody in the real world gives a damn.
This. I have never put my GPA on my resume and it never came up in any interview. The only time it will come up is if you are applying to residency or some blowhard hospital with a stick up their ass.

We screen GPA's < 3.3 for residency.

We just don't have the manpower to sift through all those applications.

But for regular positions we don't care, mostly because we only hire experienced and/or residency trained, so GPA is useless at that point.

Yes, but they will expect you to carry it out to at least 4 decimal points. What are you trying to hide?

nope, may be for residency but your job/manager wouldn't care and they wouldn't know really unless you put it on your resume or cv

Nope employers could care less what your GPA is, as long as you have a pulse and can pump out scripts they'll hire you. If you're pursuing a PGY1 etc.. then yes it would matter otherwise don't worry about it. I'd be more focused on networking and getting experience.

If you really intend to regret something you did/didn't do in the past, you should regret not working while in pharmacy school if that applies to you. The experience you get on-the-job will put you light-years ahead of that guy/girl sitting next to you in class who didn't work.

This. One of my classmates had no work experience and we started work in the same district as grad interns. Our pharmacy supervisor pulled her aside to have a private meeting with her. She got scolded for not taking initiative, simple things like picking up the phone when it rings without being told to, taking care of the customers in front of you before filling stuff due hours from now, etc. Things that an entry level technician would learn on the first day. The lead techs in her store were pissed that she was paid 2-3x as much as them, because she was pretty useless. Everyone in the district knew about it so it must have been pretty embarrassing.

I wish I knew, times have changed. There are so many graduates now that maybe it does matter. Back in my day I followed the word of George W. Bush, C's = degrees. Something like that, don't quote me. I always knew I was doing retail, so I really didn't care. I just needed to pass. Success in retail pharmacy is not for the weak of heart though. You could get a 2.0 and be successful in retail with strong leadership skills. Make sure you have a job and show them you are a great worker. I would take a hard working 2.5 student over a flaky 4.0 student any day of the week.
