Does the post-bacc program's reputation matter that much?

Hi all,

I'm looking into post-bacc programs currently, and right now, the Harvard Extension School is sounding really appealing (financially and location-wise). But I've had my eye on a few other programs, like Brandeis and Tufts, that provide a more structured program. My question, then, is: do med schools look at the post-bacc program itself as a factor in the application process? I know that ultimately the most important thing is that you fulfill the pre-med requirements and do well in them, but if you did those courses at, say, Tufts, does that have any bearing on you? (Btw, I'm not asking in the hopes of applying to get into one of these schools so that their reputation helps me get in or anything, I just don't want it to be a detriment if I end up at a lesser known program.)

This isn't to say that the HES doesn't have a good reputation, but it just seems less comparable to other post-bacc programs in terms of structure.

Any info at all would be a help, thanks!

HES has a better reputation and track record than Tufts/Brandeis in my experience. Only the top tier postbacs like BM/Scripps/goucher/jhu will give you any advantage over HES.

So far sounds like HES is the place to be...very good news. Thanks guys.

HES seems to get great reviews but I don't think reputation matters that much for post bacc. The point is to get your grades up and they will be looking for you to do that, regardless of whether you are at Harvard or some community college.

I disagree with this statement

There is a big diff IMO between a CC and a 4-yr school. There would have to be very good reasons why someone went to a CC over a 4-yr school for me to off-set it. The quality of CCs as a whole, just isnt good.
