So it sounds like the scores for step 1 and 2 are more or less important for fellowship matching. What about the Step 3 score? Does that show up on the front page of the fellowship application as well?

Thanks!

Yes. First page is name, social, address, phone number, citizenship, visa status, military obligations, Step 1/2CK/3 (3 dig, 2 dig, number of times taken).

Edit: Agree with MstaKing10, no need to sweat step 3

They are not that important...seriously. Unless you totally bomb them, there are so many other, much more important factors that it doesn't get any serious consideration. Fellowship match is A LOT different than residency match. OKAP scores may be asked for by a few programs and are likely more pertinent. Don't sweat step 3 (but don't bomb it either).

I took step 3 right at the beginning of my intern year, because I was on elective. I had significant research time between step 2ck and step 3. I was rusty, so I did the whole Q bank. My goal was to score above the national average.

Most of my friends in competitive specialties have scored 200's to 210's on step 3, because they didn't study at all. I think it's not a very hard test, but it requires some effort if you aren't a natural "I score 250-260 on step 1" type of person.

It is 2 days long and tiring. I agree with everyone that it probably doesn't matter for fellowship, but bombing it looks careless.

No step 3 is not that important for fellowship. Its more important who is recommending you and from what program. Programs do ask about OKAPS and your letters will make a big difference in how you are ranked.
