I've already searched the forum and did not find a clear answer.

I volunteer at a level 1 trauma center on the weekends. Besides all the volunteer duties, volunteer are allowed to observe the trauma team work on patients. For example I have been fortunate enough to observe physicians put in chest tubes, intubation, spinal taps, sew up patients etc etc.

Besides the observation the doctors, and nurses (the residents more so) have been very open to any questions I've had and have answered my questions many a time.

Could this count as a shadowing or would it still be considered a volunteer experience?
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Yes, it's shadowing. I did research in a trauma center, and, while I did work most of the day, I got to run down to the trauma bay when they called an alert on the intercom. I listed it as "Research" on AMCAS but also put that I shadowed physicians in the description.

Awesome! Thank you. How would I go about listing it on AmCAS? Do I just guesstimate as best I can how much time I've spent in the trauma bay?
