As the title says, does video games count as manual dexterity? I am one of the best player in my college and I was wondering if I can count it as manual dexterity.

Also, I play piano for hobby. I am not really exceptional at piano, but I love to play it for fun when I have time. Do you think I should count playing piano as manual dexterity even though I am not good at it? I am worried because I am not really good at it (I can only play basic songs) and get asked to play piano during the interview haha.

Thank you!

You should absolutely put both, especially if you're good. List if you've ever played in any tournaments or anything like that especially, since you say you know you're good. I'm a hobby guitarist, definitely not great, but I got asked about it on multiple interviews. I believe studies have linked good motor coordination and stuff to video games as well and I'm sure they're aware of it.

What kind of questions were you asked about the guitar? Were you asked to play it?

Nothing weird, just like, “oh, you play guitar?” Just becomes something to talk about. My point is just that they look at that stuff and the really are interested in it.

I made video games a prominent part of my application and it really ended up paying off. I'm the captain of a collegiate gaming team at my college and we play other colleges in tournaments for scholarship money. So I ended up being able to talk about my awesome hand eye coordination and leadership skills all in one go!

It was pretty hilarious having Ph.D level Dr.'s asking me about what kind of video games I played over the weekend!
