As a fresh grad, does the dental school you come from matter to an employer?

Hi all,

I just want to gain a sense of what goes in to competing for associate jobs. So I pose the following question as a poll:

For a fresh grad, does the dental school you went to matter when an employer deliberates on whether to higher you over some other applicant?

Many thanks to all who participate.

No one really cares. More so, employers will ask are you able to get a license in that state and if you have a DEA number to dispense opioids.

As far as “competing” for jobs is concerned, I think it’s more about you being a good fit for the practice and the practice being a good fit for you.

Some schools have a good reputation for excellent clinical training, but not everyone is aware of that or care. Pretty much they prefer to hire you and if you are not good enough - fire you

Nobody cares these days. As a general dentist they will be more concerned with your individual skills as a dentist rather than the school you went to.
