Asking out of curiosity. Would an applicant with a strong profile, who would otherwise get yield-protected at an MD school due to a combination of stats and profile/narrative, be considered if they were international? Assume that they meet the eligibility requirements and went to a US undergrad.
The usual justification for yield protection assumes that the hypothetical strong applicant would have plenty of choices elsewhere and is unlikely to attend if admitted. Is this still the case for a candidate who presumably already has a lower likelihood of admission due to citizenship?
